Take Action: Send a Message to Members of Congress to Cosponsor the Energy Bills Relief Act

Samantha Dynowski

April 2026

Oil and gas corporations and the politicians that support them have rigged our energy system for their own profit. The Energy Bills Relief Act was just introduced to help fight back. It would lower electricity costs, protect against utility shutoffs, and create good-paying clean energy jobs for our communities.

Among the bill's provisions, it reverses and prevents further attacks on clean energy by:

  • Restoring the historic tax credits for clean energy that Congress enacted in 2022 and revoked in 2025.

  • Preventing presidents from abusing federal permitting processes to block clean energy.

  • Preventing presidents from invoking “energy emergencies” to prop open expensive fossil fuel plants.

In addition, the Energy Bills Relief Act:

  • Modernizes and strengthens the electrical grid

  • Protects consumers from data centers driving up energy costs

  • Stops subsidizing expensive fossil fuel plants ready for retirement

  • Helps families save through energy efficiency

  • Expands LIHEAP so low-income households keep their heating and air conditioning

See more about the Energy Bills Relief Act here.

The Energy Bills Relief Act, H.R. 7977, has 121 cosponsors, but our Connecticut Members of Congress have not yet added their names. Please send a message to your Member of Congress, and ask them to co-sponsor the Energy Bills Relief Act.
