Members  of Back from the Brink CT carried a poster into the Hartford office of  Senator Chris Murphy on April 28. The poster said the “Senator  Murphy - UN Secretary General says Nuclear weapons deliver no security,  only the promise of annihilation. Please cosponsor S. Res. 323.” Senate Resolution (S. Res.) 323 calls for a halt and reversal of the  nuclear arms race. The poster has seventy four signatures of Connecticut  residents.

As  conflicts escalate throughout the world and with the termination of arms  control agreements, the danger increases that nuclear weapons could be  used. One mishap or miscommunication can create a living inferno for  millions, ignite global famine, and destroy civilization.  With nuclear  weapons on hair trigger alert, there is very little time to correct an  error or misjudgement, in response to a false warning.

S. Res.  323 and H. Res. 317  are companion resolutions calling for concrete  steps which will take us on the road to nuclear weapon abolition. Go to Back from the Brink for more details. Reps Larson, Hayes, and Delauro  have cosponsored H. Res. 317.

We need  Senator Murphy's advocacy skills  and Senator Blumenthal's support to  help us put nuclear weapon disarmament in the center of the national  conversation .  Please call both of our  U.S. Senators and ask them to  cosponsor S. Res. 323.
