Each year, Sierra Club entities across the country elect volunteers to Executive Committees. Our Executive Committees oversee and approve the work of the staff, committees, campaigns, and groups. Later this month, Sierra Club members will be asked to vote on nominees for the Connecticut Chapter, Shoreline Group, and Greater Hartford Group Executive Committees. The nominees will serve a two year term beginning January 1, 2027, and ending on December 31, 2028.

These nominees have been vetted and approved by the current Executive Committees. However, any current Sierra Club Connecticut member may petition to run for a spot on the Executive Committee of their Chapter or Group. The deadline to petition as a candidate to be included on this year’s ballot is November 12, 2026. 

Our Chapter Bylaws state:

“4.3 Petition Candidates. The name of any Chapter member proposed in writing by at least 15 Chapter members prior to the deadline for submission of petitions, and who gives consent, shall also be included on the ballot.”
