Who We Endorse—and Why—for the 2026 Elections
Stephen Lewis
October 2026

Elections matter. As shifting priorities in Washington have shown, political outcomes can bring abrupt and once-unthinkable reversals in environmental protections. Here in Connecticut, sound environmental policy depends on electing dedicated champions to public office.
Sierra Club Connecticut works to elect leaders committed to protecting our state’s future. That means securing clean air and water, preserving forests and open spaces where wildlife and communities can thrive, and confronting the climate crisis head-on. Our members support leaders who will accelerate the transition to clean energy while centering equity and environmental justice.
Ahead of every election, our Political Committee runs a rigorous endorsement process: we distribute detailed policy questionnaires, interview candidates, and submit recommendations to our Executive Committee for final approval.
We have completed the majority of our federal and state endorsements for the November 3, 2026 election. Follow the link below to view the candidates fighting for Connecticut’s environment—and check back over the coming weeks as we finalize the list with a few additions.
Stephen Lewis is Chair of Sierra Club Connecticut’s Political Committee.
