We accomplished a lot together in 2025! Before we tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities of 2026, let’s reflect on the past year at the Connecticut Chapter of the Sierra Club. We know that being around for the long haul and showing up at every level of government is how we have and will continue to truly make a difference.

Here's some of the ways that the work we did together in 2025 made a difference:

  • We led efforts to stop new gas infrastructure in Connecticut. Our education and mobilization has been an important counterpoint to the fossil fuel giants who want to expand pipelines and other infrastructure.

  • We helped to pass two climate bills in the 2025 legislative session — House Bill 5004, focused on climate mitigation and Senate Bill 9, focused on climate resilience. While there’s still much work ahead, these bills represent needed progress toward addressing Connecticut’s climate challenges.

  • We protected Remington Woods, a 422-acre forest in Bridgeport and Stratford. After many years of strong organizing work to protect Remington Woods from development, the corporate owner announced a “Nature for All” plan that reflected what we have been advocating for — preservation of Remington Woods for the enjoyment of the community.

We did this through activities that brought people together to protect our climate and the environment:

  • We hosted 88 educational and advocacy events attended by 3,155 people. These included lobby days, rallies, and webinars on key topics.

  • We got people outdoors by holding over 200 outings that have included nature walks, Black birding events, hikes, bike rides, and more.

  • We’ve prepared members and supporters to be more effective with 14 trainings to build advocacy and leadership skills.

  • We’ve been published, quoted or are responsible for 56 stories in the press in 2025.

Thank you for your support and advocacy in 2025. Together we will continue advocacy, actions, and wins in 2026!
