outdoor experience: Participated in a one month Outward
Bound (North Carolina) and NOLS (Wyoming) course. Leader of youth
trips for 19 years,
Favorite
Hike: Algonquin Peak in the Adirondacks.
Best
ICO Trip: One of our first overnight backpacking trips
of the year, on a cool full moon October night, on the AT along
the Houstonic River near Kent.
Other
Outdoor Experiences:
One of my best outdoor experiences with kids was the horse packing expedition
in Wyoming, Two 23 day Wilderness School courses (CT Adventure
based program for youth at risk), Leader in week long expeditions
with High School students in the White Mountains (NH),
Adirondacks (NY), Collegiate Peaks (Colorado) and Wind River Range
(Wyoming) Field experience with Malheur Wildlife refuge (Crane
Project) and Great Gull Island (Tern Project) Algonquin Peak in
the Adirondacks.
Why
I work with ICO: Because this program gives generous support
for the outdoor work I do with my Co-op High School Environmental
Studies Class/outdoor adventure group.
