Can Connecticut be #1 in the nation in Energy Efficiency?

Last month, Governor Malloy and DEP Commissioner Esty both stated their dedication to various initiatives that, if realized, would make CT the nation's top state in energy efficiency.   Here are links to their presentations:
    • Governor Malloy about his vision for CT's energy future

    •
Commissioner Esty re clean Energy, the Environment and Economics;
    the key role of retrofits for energy efficient buildings accomplished

After all, frugality and resourcefulness are renowned New England qualities, and are as American as apple pie.
And since nearly 30 percent of our occupied dwelling units were built before 1939, it's old-fashioned resourcefulness that will reduce energy waste and cost.
  Among other benefits, being Numero Uno in energy efficiency would make our state much more business-friendly and offer new competitiveness to our products and services.

Thorough weatherization of our state's existing building stock — our fastest and most fruitful (as in apple) method of energy conservation — should become "the new normal" here in Connecticut as soon as possible, and serve to save money for building owners and occupants alike.                                                                       — PG

Schedule your home energy assessment and stay cooler this summer!

Get the latest info at www.ctenergyinfo.org.  If your house needs anything else after the 3-hour check-up and fix-it-on-the-spot process (which in itself could save you $500 in one year), the graph below provides plenty of incentive to get that extra work done.  The data used to create the graph indicates that the U.S. may be wasting half of the energy that enters our economy (see the light gray "Rejected Energy" stream, and additional comments at http://www.grist.org/climate-energy/2011-04-06-americas-energy-use-in-one-nifty-chart?ref=se):
